Frequently Asked Questions

Registration

Can I change my schedule after I've registered?

Yes, you will be able to make changes to your schedule up to the first day of class.

Can I register for a course that has a pre-requisite?

Yes. As long as you are currently registered for the pre-requisite in an earlier term, you can register for the future course. Students need to satisfactorily complete any pre-requisite(s) prior to the first day of class.

Students who do not meet the pre-requisite(s) for the courses they are enrolled in will be contacted prior to the start of term to be dropped from their registered course(s) and, if possible, register for another course they do qualify for.

If you want to register for a course with pre-requisites that is part of a specialized program, please check with your assigned Certified Advisor and/or Program Coordinator for your specific program.

Will additional course options be added later?

Classes will be added throughout the year to meet student needs. Students are encouraged to check the course schedule regularly as the upcoming terms approach.

Students may also check if seats become available as others may adjust their schedules as new semesters approach.

Can I use my Individual Success Plan (ISP) to register for multiple semesters?

Yes, as long as your ISP is active and locked. You will be able to select the appropriate semester in your ISP when registering in the ACES registration portal.

If you have difficulty accessing your ISP from the ACES registration screen, you can open GPS in ACES and review your ISP from there.

Do I still need to meet with my advisor if I am registered for the full year?

We recommend you meet with your assigned Certified Advisor to verify that you have accurately planned out the upcoming academic year.

Please also check in with your advisor prior to making any changes in your program of study.

Does time ticketing still apply to Full Academic Year Registration?

Yes. Time ticketing will be based on your previously earned hours and any registered hours when registration opens for the full academic year each April.

You can register for all open terms beginning each April on your time-ticketed date.

What happens if I change my pre-major/area of study and I have already ready registered for the full academic year?

Make sure that you are meeting with your assigned Certified Advisor before making any changes to your program of study.

Changes in your program of study may impact future registered semesters.

What happens if I change my home college?

Your ability to register for the full academic year will not be impacted by a change in home college.

Please make sure you are meeting with your assigned Certified Advisor at your home college, as well as checking in with financial aid (and Veterans Affairs, if applicable) to ensure you are on the right path and it does not impact financial assistance/benefits.

If I am on academic dismissal, can I register for the full academic year?

Please check in with your assigned Certified Advisor prior to registration regarding your current academic standing and ability to register for multiple semesters.

If I am on academic probation at the time I register for the full year and then go into academic dismissal the following term, will I be dropped from classes for the remaining terms?

If your grades place you on academic probation, please communicate with your assigned Certified Advisors as soon as possible for next steps.

Financial

How will registering for the full academic year affect my bill?

Payment is only due for the immediate upcoming term. Students can view the amount owed by looking at their Account Balance by Term. Students can also see the estimated amount for future terms they’ve registered for by reviewing the Estimated Tuition and Fees for Future Term. Follow the steps below to see each amount.

Estimated Tuition and Fees for Future Term
A student can view their Estimated Tuition and Fees for Future Term in ACES Self-Service by accessing their Student Account and clicking “Preview Estimated Tuition and Fees.”

  • Students can begin to view their “Estimated Tuition and Fees for Future Term” after they register for Spring from April 3 through October 31.
  • Students can begin to view their “Estimated Tuition and Fees for Future Term” after they register for Summer from April 3 through January 31.

Student Account Balance by Term
The student’s tuition and fees will reflect on the student account balance by term.

  • Students can begin to view their “Student Account Balance” and make payment for Fall Tuition & Fees beginning April 3 once registration opens.
  • Students can begin to view their “Student Account Balance” and make payment for Spring Tuition & Fees beginning November 1.
  • Students can begin to view their “Student Account Balance” and make payment for Summer Tuition & Fees beginning February 1.

Outstanding balances from prior terms can be paid at any time.

What is the Full Academic Year payment plan?

This longer-term payment plan allows students to make payments in smaller increments. The Full Academic Year Payment Plan Enrollment Period is April 3 through August 1.

If I register for the full academic year, do I have to pay for the whole year at once?

Students enrolled for the full academic year are not required to pay for the whole year at once. Tuition and fees will be assessed by term. Students must arrange payment for the immediate upcoming term prior to a payment deadline to avoid being dropped for non-payment for that term.

Will my classes be reviewed for Financial Aid Eligibility for all semesters that I register for?

Courses will be reviewed one semester at a time to determine if they are part of your program of study.

If I am dropped for non-payment from the current term, will I also be dropped from future terms that i’ve already registered for?

No. Drop for non-payment will be processed at 7:30 p.m. on payment deadlines ONLY for the immediate upcoming term.
